The Lambda Rising event was a great success! I was on a spirited panel with Redbone Press publisher Lisa C. Moore, author G. Winston James, and poet Pamela Sneed. About 30-40 people were present. The staff at Lambda Rising Bookstore asked us a few questions, mostly about publishing and writing as POC LGTB (lots of acronyms!), opened up the floor for questions for about 15 minutes. About 4 copies of Sea, Swallow Me were signed and sold.
WHAT: Black Pride Author Panel
WHEN: Sunday May 24th, 2009 at 6:30pm
WHERE: Lambda Rising Bookstore, 1625 Connecticut Ave NW Washington, DC 20009
WHO:
1) Lisa C. Moore
2) Craig Laurance Gidney
3) G. Winston James
4) Steven Fullwood
Around 40 people showed up for my reading/signing. I thank them all for their support. My publisher, Steve Berman of Lethe Press, sent me the beautiful lilies that are next to me. I read portions of The Safety of Thorns and Her Spirit Hovering, and I read Magpie Sisters in it’s entirety.
I am completely overjoyed.
The upcoming reading/signing on Feb 19 is listed here, in the Out In DC section of the Washington Blade.

On February 19 @ 7 PM, I will be reading from and signing copies of my debut collection of short stories, “Sea, Swallow Me” at the DC Center (The DC Center, 1111 14th Street NW Suite 350) as a part of the Outwrite Author Series.
Information and reviews of the book may be found here:

Also, my publisher, Lethe Press, is selling the eBook for the special price of $3.25 in celebration of African American History Month for the month of February 2009. eBooks are available here:

Bookspot Central, where I occasionally post book reviews, is running a Sea, Swallow Me contest. Information about the contest is here.
I read my story Magpie Sisters. I was third on the list. I think I did pretty well–I gestured, looked at the audience. My story was cut short–there was a 6 minute time limit. I will read the story in its entirety for the book release party in December. It was great to see many of my friends and family (my brother came down from Boston) out there to support me.
I liked many of the other readers, but I missed their names, unfortunately.
Come hear me read at an Open Mic this Friday!
