DC Author Festival on October 18th at the MLK Library

author fest

If you want to hear me read a story from SKIN DEEP MAGIC, I will be appearing at DC Author Festival next Saturday.

It will be held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Many DC-based authors will be there, including mystery writer George Pelecanos, Tom Doyle and Caroliva Herron. I read at 11 AM, and will be selling copies of my book the rest of the day.

EVENT: Author Craig Laurance Gidney at the DC Public Library on June 26, 2014

I will be talking to teens about my YA novel Bereft at my neighborhood library on June 26, 2014 at 4 PM. I’m honored, excited and nervous all at once. Ana Elisa de Campos Salles, the librarian who set the talk up, made this poster.

Bereft in the DC Public Library System and Forthcoming Library Event.

My YA novel Bereft is finally in the DC Public Library system. Now is as good a time as any to announce that a library event is in the works for this spring/summer, to coincide with DC’s LGBT Pride Festival. More information forthcoming.

Last night I learned that my neighborhood library, the Mount Pleasant Branch of the DC Public Library system, has a mural in the children’s section painted by Aurelius Battaglia. He was an illustrator who went on to work for Disney. His animation can be seen in Dumbo, Pinocchio and Fantasia. The mural has been preserved, and the library is going to put some of his illustrations on one of the bridge-walkways in the building. Above are some pictures I took of his work.
