Awards Eligibility

I had two stories that are eligible for awards

  1. “Sacred She-Devil”–involving trans characters and Umbanda/Quimbanda goddesses in the anthology Whether Change: The Revolution Will be Weird (Broken Eye Books)
  2. “Antelope Brothers”–a story about a Black secret society and sex magic(k) in the anthology Unfettered Hexes: Queer Tales of Insatiable Darkness (Neon Hemlock)

Queer Space Force Author Reading May 8th!

I will be participating in a group reading in celebration of the release of Queer Space Force (put out by Neon Hemlock), a zine of speculative fiction by DC based writers this Saturday! Join me and Rasha Abdulhadi, Marlena Chertock, & Rashid Darden.

Unfettered Hexes Kickstarter

Please consider contributing to the Unfettered Hexes Kickstarter, an anthology that Neon Hemlock is putting together. The subject: queer witches! I already have a killer idea….

Unfettered Hexes: Queer Tales of Insatiable Darkness will be a speculative anthology telling stories about queer witches, the knife edge between the sacred and the profane, and infinite darkness.

Neon Hemlock and Baffling Magazine

I will be co-editing Baffling Magazine, a new flash fiction venue that specializes in Weird Fiction with a queer bent, alongside dave ring, who runs the Neon Hemlock micropress. (“Weird Fiction” isn’t strictly Lovecraftian/cosmic horror here; it includes the new fabulism of Kelly Link and Jeffrey Ford).

A submission announcement will go up soon. In the meantime, you can check out the mostly skeletal website here.

Speaking of Neon Hemlock, they are also running a chapbook contest (poetry/fiction/nonfiction categories) for the OutWrite Literary Festival, which happens every summer. It is only opened to writers in the DVM (District-Virginia-Maryland) area and has some awesome judges.

Finally, I will be reading some fiction on Neon Hemlock’s Instagram feed on June 17, along side Eboni Dunbar and Suzan Palumbo. More info —
